On February 17^th Muskie Club members and friends got together for a first informal Muskie Club event in 2010 - Happy Hour at Apshu Bar in Moscow.

On October, 14, 2009 US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with students of the Moscow State University stressing that their country’s prosperity was dependent on its willingness to cultivate core freedoms, including the freedom to participate in the political process.

The Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies invites emerging political, civil society, and business leaders from transitional countries to apply to participate in its sixth annual Draper Hills Summer Fellows on Democracy and Development program.

The US-Russia exchange program for young political leaders organized and managed by ACYPL and Muskie Club started on September, 12 and ran for two weeks giving Russian young politicians an opportunity to visit three regions in the USA - Washington, DC, Raleigh, NC and Colorado Springs, CO. 

Muskie Club Reunion 2009 & Picnic will take place in Serebryanny Bor on July 18th, 2009. Club members and friends are invited to join us for an exciting program, music, BBQ. This event is supported by HP.

In July 2009, the Passport Magazine has published an interview with Rosemary Hilhorst, Director of British Council Russia. In this interview Ms. Hilhorst talks about British Council's new strategies, British Council library, cultural exchanges between Russia and UK, also putting an accent on the exchange study programs for Russian young people.

A discussion on useful tips for Muskie Program finalists has been started on LinkedIn by Karine Avagyan, a Muskie'09 finalist from Armenia. Karine is a Macroeconomist at Central Bank of Armenia and has been placed for Goizueta Business School at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.

On June, 24th, 2009, Irina Hakamada was a special guest at Muskie Club's event series "Famous Talk". Irina Hakamada, Doctor of Economics, politician, businesswoman and Presidential candidate accepted Muskie Club's invitation to informally discuss with club members career and success sharing her experience.

On June, 10th, 2009, REN-TV aired an interview with US Ambassador John Beyrle on politics, culture and Ambassador's literary preferences. Ambassador Beyrle was nominated by President George W. Bush on May 13, 2008, and sworn in as the US Ambassador to the Russian Federation on July 2, 2008.

In an interview with the Azeri newspaper "Zerkalo" Rashad Bayramov, Muskie'02, shared his views on how to find a job during the global economic slowdown around the world. In this interview, Bayramov, an editor of the BP corporate magazine, gives simple advises. Uniqueness of professional skills and networking are put by Bayramov in the top of the list.

 

iCamp/StartCamp 2009 is a fair for start-up projects. The main aim of the iCamp fair is to support startuppers with knowledge, get a feeling of a hands-on experience and to announce their existence. There are no criteria for participation, and every participant may run a seminar, master-class, training, contest or present their project.

The San Francisco Muskie Reunion took place on June, 11th, 2009. Nadia Brannon [Muskie'95] coordinated the Bay Area Muskie networking get-together starting a SanFran Muskie tradition. Evgeniy Shishkanov, Elina Hayes, Zhanna McManus joined Nadia Brannon for the first and "very low key" dinner at the restaurant.
